WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a moment that left many in the audience scratching their heads, President Biden called out to the crowd in a recent game show appearance to help recall the exact wording of the Preamble to the United States Constitution.
“I know it starts with ‘We the people,’ but could someone in the audience give me a hand with the rest of it? Anyone? Anyone at all?” Biden said, pausing as he searched his memory for the appropriate words.
An awkward silence followed as the audience exchanged confused glances, unsure of how to respond to the President’s request for assistance. Finally, a brave soul in the back of the room shouted out, “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Biden, clearly relieved, responded with a hearty, “That’s the one! Thank you, my friend. That’s the preamble I was looking for.” He then proceeded to answer the trivia question about the U. S. Constitution.
